In spring, many people pull the tractor out of the warehouse and prepare to start a new round of work. As a result, when they start the ignition, the tractor either cannot start or shakes, which makes people very confused. In fact, this kind of difficulty in starting after sleeping is often related to the poor condition of several key tractor parts. Don’t rush to send it for repair. Some problems can be solved by yourself. Here are some common reasons to check.
The first thing to look at is the battery. If the tractor has not been moved all winter, it is almost certain that the battery is low. Low temperature will reduce the activity of the battery, and if it is not charged for a long time, it may reach the end of its power. You can use a voltmeter to measure it. If it is lower than 12.4V, it basically needs to be charged or replaced. If you find that the battery is bulging, leaking, or the terminal is severely corroded, don’t hesitate. It is more convenient to replace it directly.
The battery is normal, but there is still no movement when pressing the start button. Then you need to check the starter motor. Loose wiring, worn carbon brushes, and relay failure can all cause the motor to fail to start. If you hear a “clicking” sound but the engine does not turn, it is likely that the motor rotor is stuck. In this case, you can tap the housing and try to start it again. If it can be temporarily saved, remember to find time to replace the corresponding tractor parts later, such as the starter motor assembly or electromagnetic switch, and don’t wait until it breaks down completely.
There is another high-frequency reason for the difficulty in starting the tractor: the oil circuit is not smooth. In particular, if the diesel filter is blocked or the fuel pump is aging, it will cause insufficient injection pressure, and the fuel supply will not keep up when igniting. At this time, you will find that the tractor can occasionally catch fire, but it will turn off immediately, or it will not catch fire after a long time. In this case, you should replace the fuel filter first. If the effect is still not good, consider checking whether the fuel pump or the return oil pipe is blocked. If you use old diesel that has been stored for a long time, there may also be water or impurities in it. It is recommended to refill it with clean new oil.
Another thing that many people ignore is the air filter. If the filter is too dirty and the intake volume is insufficient, the engine will be short of oxygen when ignited. This is like covering your mouth while running, which will definitely make you lose energy. You can remove it and blow away the dust first, but if the filter element has turned black and hard, don’t save this little money; it’s more reliable to replace it with a new one.
Before you start the tractor, remember to check whether the fuel is sufficient, whether the battery connector is tight, and whether the throttle position is appropriate. When starting, do not ignite continuously for a long time; limit each time to about 5 seconds, and try again after 30 seconds. If you fail to start many times in a row, you should stop and check the problem. After starting successfully, it is recommended to preheat the engine at idle speed for a few minutes and wait for the engine oil to fully lubricate the inside of the engine before working.
If you find that some tractor parts, such as filter elements, starter motors, batteries, etc. have aged or their performance has declined, it is better to replace them now to avoid losing the chain during the busy season. You can go to FridayParts to find accessories by model. There are various brands and models of accessories on the platform, such as fuel filters, starter motors, batteries, air filters, etc., which are cost-effective and shipped quickly.
